Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Salt Mines , Moray – Aguas Calientes
We will pick you up from your accommodation around 08:30 am, to go in direction to Maras, here also we will visit the Local Church that owns some colonial paintings of Cusquenian art, then we will go to the salt mines of Maras, in the Inca’s time, the people use to obtein salt from this place. This Beautiful place have more than 3000 little waterholes.
Continuing with our tour, we will arrive to Moray, circular terraces, which has varied micro climates, used by the Incas for the acclimatization, hybridization and domestication of different wild plants that were modified for human consumption..
Moray is a unique in its type. These are huge depressions or natural holes on the surface of the land, that were used to build terraces or agricultural platforms with their respective irrigation channels. What draws attention is the average annual temperature difference between the top and the bottom of the depressions.
The next place to visit will be Ollantaytambo, beautiful town that still keeps very narrow streets with inca walls, here we are going to visit the amazing archeaological area, it owns a perfect and fine architecture, definitely you will love this place, here is where you are going to catch the train going to Aguas Calientes, once you are there , somebody from the Hostel will be waiting for you at the train station, in order to take you to the hostel.
Day 2: Machu picchu – Cusco
Early in the morning you will start your hikking going up to Machupicchu, it takes 1 1/2 hours approx. or you can take the optional bus that takes 30 minutes, in Machupicchu you will recieved 2 hours guided. after this you can hike one of the optional mountains.
After the visit you will go down to Aguas Calientes town, here there are many options for lunch, and you have to be at the train station at least 30 minutes before your Returning train schedule, the train is going to leave you in Ollantaytambo, where we will be waiting for you to take you back to Cusco, the drop off will be in Regocijo square which is close by to the diferent hotels and hostels of the historic center of Cusco city.
